ADSL splitter technology is quite mature and widely used. However the technology principle has yet to be spread. The following is the basic working principle of ADSL splitter.
ADSL splitter and telephone splitter is not the same. ADSL splitter is the use of frequency division multiplexing technology to transmit ordinary telephone lines by the low frequency signal (3.0 – 3.4KHz) and high-frequency signal (4.0-1000KHz) separation. There are two types. The first, ADSL work in full speed mode, the transient noise will interfere with the operation of ADSL splitter. To prevent this from happening, you must install a small external splitter. Second, ADSL splitter in G.Lite mode, the maximum transfer rate will reduce, user do not need an external splitter. About the separated signals, 3400Hz is for phone; 3400Hz and above are for surfing on Internet. This can provide high-speed transmission: uplink (from user to network) and low-speed transmission up to 640Kbps, downlink (from the network to the user) and high-speed transmission up to 6Mbps; and the Internet without affecting the normal use of the telephone.
There are two kinds of ADSL splitter. One is the most widely used. There are two interfaces and connect to telephone and outside. Another one is the ADSL spot splitter. With a difference, ADSL spot splitter owns three interfaces, one is foe outside line, one is for ADSL Modem, the last one is an analog telephone connection. Hope this will be helpful to the readers.
