Advantages and Disadvantages of 110 Type Wiring Block
Since about 2000, the screw-terminal blocks have been slowly replaced by 110 type wiring blocks. Modern families usually have phone service entering the house to a single 110 type wiring block. At the output box, cables are punched down to RJ-11 sockets, which fit in special faceplates. Also in commercial areas, the 110 type wiring block has been slowly replacing the 66 block, especially for telephone usage.
110 type wiring block are usually used to connect two CAT5 cable to display images. On one side, 110 type wiring block connect cables, patch panels. On the other end may be connected with 110 type wiring block and Keystone. 110 type wiring block is the preferred block of 66 high-speed network, because they produce less crosstalk, many of them used in CAT5 and CAT6 cabling system, and even used in the 6A class certification.
During the regular usage of wire can become stuck inside a 110 type wiring block, this renders that given pair unusable as new wire will be unable to make contact with the 110 type wiring block. 110 type wiring blocks are also less secure than 66 blocks for keeping cross connects in place.
